There are some patient assistance programs out there for those who cannot get approved. My insurance paid for 100% of the medication so I was one of the lucky ones.
#XOLAIR COPAY ASSISTANCE TRIAL#
I am actually participating in a clinical trial for the drug at the moment. I work in a Pulmonary/Allergy office as a nurse and was told by the doctors that I would be a good candidate.

I have been on every medication under the sun with no incredible relief. I have had severe asthma and allergies since I was 5 and I am not 24. I get 2 injections of 150mg once a month. My Advair has been decreased to 250/50 and I was able to stop the Allegra. So the improvements could be from not using Xopenex anymore.Ģ months and already love it!!! I have only been on Xolair to 2 months and have already noticed decreased allergy symptoms (especially with animal dander and dust) and lessened nightly asthma exacerbations. My doctor says it works for me short-term, but it ends up over-sensitizing my lungs, and I get VERY tight from it. However, since the time that I have noticed these improvements I haven't been using Xopenex (nebulized bronchodilator). So it could just be that my body was recovering from that so I didn't notice Xolair benefits right away. It took about 13 months or so for me to start seeing improvements, but I also had a HUGE Anaphylactic rxn and asthma flare that required 2 long hospital admissions for IV steroids shortly after starting the Xolair. I am still on Prednisone, but notice a BIG decrease in symptoms since starting Xolair. I was started on Xolair when I was 18 years old, and am now 20, and it is my understanding that Xolair is not yet FDA approved for those 12 and under. Technically I am in the 'do not treat' range due to my very high IgE level, but my pulmonologist decided to try it anyway. Your IgE level (blood test - Immunoglobulin E - which is the 'allergy' antibody) is measured and that, along with your weight is used to determine your dosage. My Xolair Experience I have severe asthma/allergies.
